Our Team

Creative director W. Tilghman Hemsley IV leads our infrastructure projects from creative conception to the moment of unveiling. Tilghman is a visionary artist whose work projects views of the greatness and uniqueness of America and its people. His priority is to incorporate details that make large-scale sculpture not only visually inspiring, but also engaging and approachable. Examples of his public art work can be viewed at Kent Narrows (Maryland Watermen's Monument), Aberdeen Proving Grounds (Fallen Star Memorial), and (coming soon) Maple Lawn (Swans in Flight).

Our Values

Stewardship – Public art projects are lengthy and costly, with a lot of moving parts. We use your money wisely, working with clients, government authorities, and donors to create impactful artistic memorials that are delivered on time, on budget, and to spec. Accessibility – Art should be for everyone, regardless of age, ability, or socioeconomic status.
Community Enhancement – Public art is infrastructure that reflects and inspires the people who interact with it, bringing life to the local community.
Artist Encouragement – Supporting artists through fair compensation, exposure, and professional opportunities.
Sustainability – Using eco-friendly materials and long-lasting installations to ensure art’s enduring impact.

Our Work

Monuments stand as silent observers of the passage of time and the evolution of a community. Our projects are designed as public infrastructure…an investment that provides meaningful economic impact on the surrounding area, generating jobs, boosting local spending, and fostering long-term economic growth. Money spent on artists, materials, labor, and marketing flows through multiple sectors, stimulating growth and community engagement. Contact us today to discuss ideas for bringing public art to your environment.

Programs

APMI provides two levels of public art support. We'll manage projects from design to installation (All-In), or provide matching funds to assist with getting community-based projects off the ground or bringing in those final dollars to fulfill funding requirements (Accelerator).

All-In Projects

Through its All-In program, APMI manages public art projects from start to finish. All-In projects can be fully funded by the client or generated and funded directly by APMI with help from its donors.

Accelerator Funding

Communities partner with us to jumpstart public art projects with matching grants for initial funding.  We're also there at the end to provide momentum for raising those last few dollars needed to complete funding targets.

Projects

Black Watermen's Memorial

A compelling monument to Black watermen of the Eastern Shore of Maryland is in the early stages of design and development.

The project advisory board is comprised of seasoned watermen who have worked the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries their entire lives.

Help us bring this All-In project to life!
